New Zenner: I don't understand how to upload files!

:onfire: I can't seem to find out the information I need on the forums. I am completely dumbfounded on 99.9% of this. I keep understanding that when files are saved, you are supposed to upload them but the only thing I can upload is images. I don't know where else to upload the files. Anyway, I saved 2 files and when I updated my site it was all screwed up. All the saving did for me was move all of the former information down to the end of the page. When this happened I had just updated my header file on the main page. HELP!!

To upload the files, you need an FTP client like Filezilla or SmartFTP. Those are free ones you can download from the internet. Just search for them.

I have an ftp account with my server but I don't know how to use it.

Have you tried googling for FTP setup or using FTP?

What FTP client do you have?

Your hosting service should be able to advise you on setting up the FTP client. Usually, the url is ftp.yourdomain.com.

Once you're able to connect, it should be clearer to you.

I would advise you use either smartftp downloadable at http://www.smartftp.com/
or filezilla. Also go to this site and learn everything there is to know about FTP.

I have Filezilla as my ftp client. For 4 days I have unsuccessfully been able to connect my computer to the filezilla ftp server or my own server. Of course, I don't know anything about the majority of what I am doing. My problem has now been resolved. My server had other instructions on downloading filezilla and downloading to their server. That worked!
