active template disappears from the admin area

I have an awkward problem with template override not working. The custom template is showing under Tools > Template Selection in the admin area, and I can switch to it. However, when I go to the Web site, I see the default template, not my custom one.

The custom template only contains one file, includes/templates/mytemplate/css/stylesheet.css (copied from the Classic template) and includes/templates/mytemplate/template_info.php with my information.

If I leave the admin page (Tools > Template Selection) and then come back, no template is selected there, nothing under "Template name" or "Template Directory," and template details in the right column under "Edit" are all blank. However, my custom template is still listed under "Templates Installed" along with the classic one. If I hard-refresh the page, the active template's details show fine.

If I switch back to Classic, the result is the same - no active template on the admin page, and template_default is showing on the Web site.

To make sure it's not my Firefox's cashe playing tricks on me, I checked in Opera and IE too with the same results.

I found the article at https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=235 about includes/.htaccess being a possible culprit, but even if I remove .htaccess completely from the server, the override still does not happen.

The host is Dreamhost if it matters, and it is my first Zen Cart installation there.

Re: active template disappears from the admin area

Do you have a link to the site?

Re: active template disappears from the admin area

It looks like you might have fixed your problem? I see a custom template when I look at your link. What fixed the problem for you (in case someone else has the same problem)?
