How to change "Submit" button Properties to different url?

Hi. Is there a way to change the properties of the "Submit" button to make it go straight to checkout?

Sorry to bump this but I am totally stuck on this problem, and I can't progress any further with my site until it's resolved.

To go into a bit more detail, on my site, when you checkout and click on "submit" it takes the customer back to the main site, and in order to complete the checkout you have to click on "Checkout" I presume this is the default settings for zencart, but this poses a problem for me as the customer is then able to view members only pages without having actually paid for the suscription. Consequently I need the "submit" button to be changed so that the it takes the customer straight to checkout where they will enter their payment details, and then be allowed to access the members only pages.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated,

To go into a bit more detail, on my site, when you checkout and click on "submit" it takes the customer back to the main site, and in order to complete the checkout you have to click on "Checkout" I presume this is the default settings for zencartNo, it is not the default.

What's different between your site and a fresh install?
What addons/contributions are installed?
What version of Zen Cart?
What payment modules are active?
Please explain in a lot more detail what you mean with what's happening at every click.

Zen Cart's checkout is:
a) add to cart
b) review shopping cart
c) begin checkout: login if necessary, or create an account
d) specify shipping
e) specify payment choice
f) confirm order
g) order-success confirmation
h) logout or go to my account to review order history, or do new shopping

How does your site differ from this, and why?
What customizations have you made to handle "subscriber only" content? Sounds like something in that is creating confusion and breaking the normal flow.

I have set up EZ pages so that they can only be accessed by a customer who is logged in using information from this thread:

In step (2) You are looking at the zen cart login screen
In step (5) You are looking at the Zen Cart login screen as part of checkout
The Enter personal Details page is the "Create Account" page of zen cart checkout where you would enter Name/Address/Email etc (Sorry, that was not clear)
The "Submit" Button is at the bottom of the create account page. Is that not standard? I don't recall making any changes there? Maybe an applezen template thing?

Also, why would you be taking them to an EZ-Page at this stage anyway? You shouldn't take them anywhere until they've completed checkout with payment.

Herein lies my problem, I don't want this button to go to the EZ page I want it to continue with the checkout

Actually I want the EZ pages only to be viewed by subscribed members but surely you can't login unless you have paid the subscription (Subscribed)

Here is the code that I added to make the EZ pages accessible only by logged in members:

You're using ez-pages as product pages, and product pages as information pages.
You've got the function of checkout buttons reprogrammed somehow.
You've got some sort of very confusing changes to normal flow whereby starting checkout (even if already logged in) asks you to log in again.

I'm not sure what you've done to get this confused flow. There have been some very odd decisions made about what to do where and when, and customers are going in endless loops.
I have no idea how to tell you how to fix it ... and afraid to even try ...

Additionally, your logic is flawed with respect to being able to see certain things only if logged in. When a customer creates an account in order to checkout, they are logged in. If you want to ensure that the person has paid their membership before being able to see certain content, you're going to have to use some other sort of method. Perhaps make them a member of a certain customer group using the Customer Group Pricing facility. You don't have to give them any discounts, just create a group. Then if the logged-in-customer is a member of the group, let them see the pages, rather than just checking if they're logged in. It appears that you're allowing folks to sign up with any old credit card value, so you'll probably be manually adding folks to the group after you've verified payment etc.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to check it all out. I think starting again from scratch is the only option. The customer group pricing option looks like a possibility.

What I need to be able to do is this:

(My products will be (4) different membership options.)

1. Have a list of auditions (broken down into categories) which can be browsed by anyone
2. For each audition I need a separate page which will have the details of how to apply for the audition. (this is to be accessible only by paid-up members)

Is this possible using zen cart!

You could create a second product description which contains the protected content, and only show that content if authorized. You'd have to repeat the audition information for each talent opportunity, but that's a minor issue. The nice thing about having it all on one page would be the ease of printing it off and knowing "what" the audition details apply to, vs the more generic approach I currently see on your site.

The coding of a second product description would be a custom job. There's a "product short description" mod available in the downloads area that could be adapted ... you wouldn't need the product-listing portion of it ... instead, use the extra field for displaying the protected content under the right circumstances.

In cases where the viewer is not authorized, you could present a button which links to the buy-a-membership page, perhaps with a bit of descriptive text explaining that the button will be replaced with audition details once they've subscribed and payment has been validated.

Your custom subscription code could even include a way to send emails to notify subscribers if their subscription is coming to an end in the next month, with a link to the buy-a-membership page.

Those are some thoughts of ways you could address your needs based on how I interpret them to mean.

I think I'm getting close to cracking it but there's one issue which is still bugging me. Is it possible when a customer clicks "Login" that only the login/password fields are seen and not the New? Please Provide Your Billing Information section? If so that would solve the members only pages issue, as the only way you can be logged in is if you have purchased a membership and completed the checkout.

Try flipping the switch at: Admin->Configuration->Layout Settings->Use split-login page:> Use split-login page

The login page can be displayed in two modes: Split or Vertical.
In Split mode, the create-account options are accessed by clicking a button to get to the create-account page. In Vertical mode, the create-account input fields are all displayed inline, below the login field, making one less click for the customer to create their account.

I've already tried that, it doesn't change anything except placing login and create account side by side rather than one above the other. Actually I'm in exactly the same position as I was with my first attempt except the cart is still intact..which I guess is a step forward:smile:

I'm not convinced it'll solve your members-only issue completely.

However, if you want to remove all create-account capabilities from the login page, create a tpl_login_default.php file in your template override folder, and put this in it:

I placed the file in includes/templates/apple_zen/templates

Well, yes, that would be a problem.

... which leads me back to my prior statement ... using login or existence of an account as your only security check is flawed.

You need to let anyone create an account.
And then simply restrict non-authorized-users from accessing certain areas ... via the Group feature I mentioned previously.
