LEN BO!
How's it? So to achieve the following objective...it looks like what you've done right now is turned off the side boxes globally which is not exactly what you want to do.
Alot of this is going to be done with 4 simple tools...tpl_main_page (which can be found in the common folder)...admin side....your stylesheet...and the tool you will learn to love the most...firefox w/ design tool.
The first step you are going to want to take is to disable your right side box globally (as it does not look like you have that in any part of your design). To do this go to your admin side | configuration | layout settings | and set column right status - global to 0.
So now the right side boxes are taken care of....
The second step you are going to want to make is while still being on your admin side go to Tools | Layout Boxes Controller | and whatever sideboxes you are going to want on the left make sure they are turned on to the left side.
Third step you are going to take is go to your tpl_main_page.php and under the line
if (in_array($current_page_base,explode(",",'list_pages_to_skip_all_right_sideboxes_on_here,separated_by_commas,and_no_spaces')) ) {
$flag_disable_right = true;
}
paste this
if ($this_is_home_page) {
$flag_disable_left = true;
}
That takes care of the left side box not being on the home page but being on the category pages...
As far as the sideboxes goes use the firefox designer tool bar to find out what the classes are and make it work as needed...if you have any further questions don't be afraid to ask
