free download don't work -- needs approval ... ?

It's a strange thing!
I've document product to download; but when complete the order with this document in cart, always
"NOTE: Downloads are not available until payment has been confirmed"
but I've setting as free product!
What happened?

Does the Payment method have the Orders Status set to enable the Download as defined in the Attribute Settings?

By default, Orders Status set to >= 2 (Processing) and <= 4 (Updated) will allow for immediate download of the Download files ...

This product have setting as free product.
What payment method?

For free downloads, THE ZENCART FREE CHARGE CARD payment module has to be activated via admin..have you done this?

Have been following this and have a similar problem. The FREE CHARGE module is activated and set to 'processing'. THe product item has virtual and always free shipping set to 'off'. The attribute is a 'download' and refers to a file which has a green button. But when added to the cart and checkout it goes to the PayPal preliminary checkout screen... what am I doing wrong?

Can you give url of your site..difficult to advise without seeing exactly what is happening?

I've able the free charge, to 3 order status
The same: "NOTE: Downloads are not available until payment has been confirmed"
In admin order I see the download box with yellow button, and click on it header inform me "download been able"
But the situation don't change on customer order: he don't download the book!

Solved!
The upper value for free download (in my case) is 5
Setting to 5, work fine!
