Backup web shop over 2Gb folder!?

Hi all,

I still use tar command with bluehost to backup all data in /shop and /images at this time.The issues : My shop is growth size per months , this months it is up to 2GB and it take a long time to tar them.After i tar them, i download it by flashget .

why are you doing full backups so often,
unless you change files you only need to backup the database

You have a lot of very large images on the site. Although you use Image Handler to reduce the file sizes when they are presented to visitors, it is most likely the images that you have uploaded that are taking a long time to backup and download again. As Merlin says ... why bother?

As long as you have one local backup of your images, youy don't need to keep downloading them again. I'd concentrate on changed php and css files and the database only, and you'd find your downloads much smaller and manageable.
