Limiting Sub Cat display to 4 Products??

Having trouble getting the Sub category items to only display 4 when clicking on a primary category.

here you can see there are 5 sub category items, i only want 4 to display with a "next" button.

In admin -> Maximum Values -> Maximum Categories Products Display List = 4

but no different ??

Any help would be appreciated.
