Shop functioning weird, please help

HI,

I had set al the settings in the admin control panel as I wished to have it, like: tax, shopping info just everything etc. I have worked a full month to get the setting as I wished.

The weird problem is after the registration of new users all the setting seems to be back to default again. Like new users are seeing all my prices excl. VAT and old users are seeing it as I had set it up.

Everything is back to default for new users, it seems that its not reading any setting which I had set in the control panel, but for the old users (registered members) its still as I had set it.

The thing that I do not understand is in my control panel everything is exactly like I had set it.

All the options that I had set in the control aren’t changed and everything is like it should be, but how come when new users register, its all back on default, like no taxes are calculated etc.

Please someone help me because I do not get it anymore

Thanks in advance

Best regards,

Saman -

Re: Shop functioning weird, please help

I have also noticed that, when a visitor who is not logged in, they are seeing the correct settings, also the old members are seeing the correct settings.

Its just the new members who are seeing the prices ex. VAT . So only new visitors whom are logged in...

Try posting a link to your site and also where(country address) these "new customers are from - as could be that the settings are based upon country of orgin

yess, my customers are from The Netherlands even when i make test accounts.

The fact is that when you go to the site and you are not logged in you will see the exact settings that i have set in the admincp. and also when older members are loggedin (old member = registered before 10/16/2007) those are also working well with the settings which i have made.

Its not only taxes but also settings like sending standard html emails instead of text (email options>> e-mail admin format>> set to html).

please note: the added settings in my admincp are still configured well as i had set, so thats not changed. and its working great with older customers.

The things is that i had set my shop for two or three months and all the settings and functionality was working great. After 10/16/2007 my server made some kind of database server upgrade and after that all new registering customers of my shop are facing this issue. It still reads all the settings for the older customers and not logged in users but it seems that its not applying it to new customers while the settings are set in the admincp. My server www.servage.net says that this is a software issue.

my link; www.GlossyMobi.com

can it be that my server is blocking the settings to be applied for new users?

I would really appreciate any help advice

Thanks

Re: Shop functioning weird, please help

it seems they have upgraded the mysql servers. this is the email they send me:

*This issue affects All Clusters.

We are committed to bringing you the best possible performance and long run reliability.

Due to our rapid growth we are currently expanding our facilities, network and overall technical infrastructure to allow for new exciting features. Unfortunately we will have to interrupt service to the cluster segment your cluster is located on for a short period of time.

The following segments are affected:
C27, C28, C29, C31, C32 and the mysql10xx.servage.net segment.

Your service will be temporarily interrupted tonight starting at 23.00 GMT. We are aware that this is very inconvenient for all clients on the affected clusters and will do everything in our power to keep this interruption as short as possible.

We are very sorry about the inconvenience.*

Re: Shop functioning weird, please help

sorry for double post

this is what their support team is saying when i told them that it could be caused by them

*Hello Saman,

By reading your first ticket, it does not look like it was caused by the datacenter move. And we have not tempered with your data, and why should we.

Please contact the support of the software. Maybe they can tell you how you lost the settings.

Kind regards,
Allan, Servage Hosting*

If your host changed your servers around, then perhaps your store is pointing to the wrong database server now?
Or maybe they have a cluster that's not operating properly and sometimes your customers see old out-of-date data and other customers see current data.

thanks but no thats not it. its working and performing and the setting are performing well for my older customers.

Its just that the settings are not getting applied to new customers.

Re: Shop functioning weird, please help

You might ask them if they changed from mysql ver 4.x to ver 5.x as their mail is not informative as to what they might have changed nor assuming any responsibility for something that functioned and now does not - assuming you have not altered anything

BTW might you have changed to this template around the same time?

Not necessary aas I believe tht you have these set as you say they are - - but something happened around 10/16 and only you and your host know what these might be

Re: Shop functioning weird, please help

You said that when new customers register they don't get "the settings".
But can you see those customers in your Admin area?
When they're on the website, do they show up in the Admin->Tools->Whos-Online area?
Do the old customers show up there too?

It seems to me like you've got two separate databases, and somehow your new customers are seeing a different database for some reason, which as mentioned by someone earlier suggests that a database cluster is out of sync.

Thanks for replying.

I do can see the customers in the admin area, they also show up in admin>> Tools>> whos online? and the old customers also showing up with the new ones.

Its really weird , its all working and perfoming. Its just the settings like sending html email and calculating cat is not apllied for the new users.

Could you please go to my shop and make a test account, put a product in the cart and go to step 2 - 3 of checking out. Is there any 19% vat calculated in there?

Re: Shop functioning weird, please help

Hello,

From what ive read it sounds like it has nothing to due with the customer side of the database but configuration table and maybe configuration group table, do u have a backup of your database prior to the problem, If you do open the SQL file in a text editor and extract both tables and restore them to your Database, you will not lose any of your product info or customer info, you would lose any configuration changes made after the backup and you would need to reset them back in the admin section,

Rich

Re: Shop functioning weird, please help

Okay guys i have tried to do some research.

I have asked 6 of my friends from six different locations to make a new (test) account and to see if the settings are applied for them.

Location 1 to 4 :Singed up , the settings are applied succesfully but the 19% vat is not applied as 19% but as 15.98%. also the html email is send succesfully

Location 5 to 6: signed up, they are seeing the prices excl. vat and html not send. text email is send

ps: I have set the email setings to send standard html instead text.

guys, i am not getting it anymore. how come the four locations did get the settings applied and the other two not.

Please feel free to take a look yourself. go to www.glossymobi.com , sign up and go to category >> laptop tassen >> add to cart>> in step 2 - 3 do you see the 19% btw getting calculated?

Thanks very much

Saman -
