Check Box in Shopping cart Page

I am sorry if this is so obvious, but I can't still figure out why the check box in the shopping cart page is for!!?? (The one under the item-delete icon)

I first assumed that after checking multiple items, they would all be deleted when I click on any delete button on the page... But it doesn't work that way... i am really curious :)

Click 3 out of 5 checkboxes and hit Update ... all 3 go away vs hit the delete icon 1 by 1 ...

Embarrassingly enough, I was clicking delete button instead of update. :blush: Thanks!

Found it.
Admin->Configuration->Stock->Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button
