Only shipping SOME items...and shipping charges for multiple items

Is it possible to allow shipping on certain items only? If yes, please let me know how.

Also, how do I set up $10 shipping for the first item and $5 for each item after that?

Using Per Item item you set the Handling to 5.00 and 5.00 per Item ...

When you say "allow on some items" do you mean that they cannot be shipped? Or, that they are Free Shipping? Or, something totally different?

What should happen when these are the only item in the cart?

Sorry, I guess I was unclear.

Only some items can be shipped. Non-shippable items MUST be picked up at the warehouse.

As far as a mix of shippable and non-shippable, I have gone back to the customer to ask him. I don't think it's that they CAN'T be shipped, I think he just does not want to based on profit margin.

Perhaps for now I can get away with verbiage in the product description stating that some items are pick-up only...

I have a similar situation but it gets tricky:
TVs can ship freight, flat fee of $100.
OR TVs get local delivery, $50 or free. SO right now customers have both options when they checkout (website tries to explain the difference).

But I also sell small items that go UPS ground (but I actually use FedEx Ground, not an issue). So, if only small items, then give UPS G option- how?

I also have a payment option of COD, but I want to give a DISCOUNT for COD.
Should I make it a promotion or a coupon... something they can add to cart that will give them the discount?
