'new products' not relevent to displayed category

Is it possible to have the 'new products' box show the latest product added to a specific category when viewing that category?

Right now the 'new products' being displayed seem totally random, it doesn't matter if you are viewing a category of books or televisions etc.

Is there a way to make the new products box more intelligent or chaneg the products it displays in some logical way?

The New Products as well as all Centerboxes are designed to be random as most often there are more New, Featured, Specials and Upcoming Products than the boxes are setup for ...

These are selected on a random basis and displayed in a random order ...

To change this, you would have to customize the individual modules for the Centerbox(es) to better suit your specific needs ...

Is there a way to change the code to make it MORE random? It seems to me that it isn't random at all between the listings in the new procusts field. FOr instance, if you go to my site, drumfactorydirect dot com, there will typically be 5 of 9 new products that are from the same category and I have like 70 or more categories. Sometimes all 9 products are from teh same category and sometimes they are one product ID right after another.
