Clarification of $this_is_home_page

Hi all,

I've been out of the loop for quite a while and am learning ZC all over again. First of all I am working with a clean install of 1.3.7 patched and am using the alternate header.

I want to put an image between the navigation (bottom of header) and the breadcrumb on the home page only. I've read several threads that say to use the $this_is_home_page variable but I am unsure about what file to put this in and what code is supposed to be wrapped up by it. Any guidance at all would be greatly appreciated.

Use it like this:```

INSERT SPECIAL HOME-PAGE-ONLY HTML CONTENT HERE

If it's to be part of the header, then I'd put it in tpl_header.php.
If it's to be part of something somewhere else on the page, then perhaps tpl_main_page.php
