Customisation of Layout of zen Cart Template

Hi,
I am looking to customise the way the products are displayed in the main area.
I wish to show the products in boxes individually rather than in tabular format..
Can you site some examples on how to customise the site and templates and if possible some specific documentation on the same.
Thanks in Advance
