setting to display out of stock items

Hi All,

I have an item that is temp out of stock. I still want to display that item in my store with the out of stock image. But when I go into edit the item and choose the radio button out of stock, it removes it from my store instead of keeping it there and displaying the out of stock image.

How/where do I set the store to keep the item in the store and display the out of stock image?

TIA

Re: setting to display out of stock items

Configuration > Stock > Products status in Catalog...

Re: setting to display out of stock items

Hmmmmm..

I have that set to 1.
I also have show sold out image... set to 1.

But Zen Cart still removes the item from the store if I select the out of stock radio button.....

Any ideas?

What you can do is goto your catalog/product and set the quantity of that product to zero and make sure to hit preview and then update. That should do the trick.

Re: setting to display out of stock items

Sounds like you missed a setting in the Configuration ... Stock ...

NOTE: for these to work, you must have Stock tracking on:

Check stock level
Check to see if sufficent stock is available

true
false

Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to
Show Products when out of stock

0= set product status to OFF
1= leave product status ON

NOTE: Product with products_quantity of <= 0 will show as Sold Out when still in the Catalog and you have set:

Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart
Show Sold Out Image instead of Add to Cart Button

0= off
1= on

NOTE: any Product that already has a products_quantity of 0 will show as Sold Out when this is turned on ...

NOTE: When stock tracking is on, and you have said to NOT show these products in the Catalog, you have to manually change the products_status to OFF in the Catalog ... Categories/Products ... when you add or edit the Product as the setting is only done automatically when an Order is created ...

This means that when you turn ON show Sold Out Products, that you manually will need to reset the products_status of the Product is In Stock to YES ...

Re: setting to display out of stock items

If you do not see, when you go to the Configuration menu in the Admin the Stock setting then you are missing data from your database ...

This is a bad thang ... :cry:

Re: setting to display out of stock items

Good job be sure to check of other missing peices and parts ...

One method is to browse the configuration table in order of configuration_key and export it via phpMyAdmin ...

Then load a clean Zen Cart in a testing directory and testing database with the demo data ... and again browse the configuration table in order by the configuration_key and export it via phpMyAdmin ...

Compare the two for missing data ...

NOTE there will be some differences in content but you should have the same configuration_keys ...

Do this with:
configuration
configuration_group

as well as some of the other key tables ...
