110 Connection timed out - Canada post module with Siteground.com

Hi,

My store is being hosted at Siteground.com, I installed the Canada Post Shipping module today and received the connection timed out error, I'm assuming it's the port 30000 problem. I was just wondering if there is anyone else that is from Canada and their shop is being hosted at Siteground.com and having the same problem? Also does anyone know if it's even possible for Siteground to open up port 30000? Any help would be great thanks :)

I just received a response from the help desk :

In order to fulfill your request, we will need the IP address for which you wish the above mentioned port to be opened, as well as the kind of connection it should be opened for - TCP, UDP or both.

For the IP : would it be sellonline.canadapost.ca ?

For connection type : both ?

I'm quite new at this so any help would be great :)

the IP is the number associated with your site

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

and it needs to be tcp/udp

Yes c-panel will show you your sites IP

I gave the IP address for my site and this was their response :

The IP address, which you have provided is the one of our shared server, where your account resides, while I was asking you for your IP address, from which you are going to connect on port 30000.

I am looking forward for your reply.** "*

Which IP address should I give them?

tell them to get their heads out of their @$$e$ and open the damn port so you can use canada post,

Its just like linkpoint its a dedicated port required for api

I just received this from Siteground.com :

***"We can easily open port 30000 for incoming connections from your IP address, but opening ports for outbound connections is not supported on our shared servers, due to security reasons. Thus, we are afraid that your module will not be able to function properly with allowing only the incoming connections from your IP. We are sorry.

If you need any further assistance, please, do not hesitate to contact us again."***

So I'm pretty much screwed, I spent 6 months on the site and now I'm not able to use the Canada Post shipping module. Any suggestions?

Thanks :) I'm actually speaking with someone on the live chat at Bluehost, I asked them about opening port 30000 and they can do it if I get a dedicated server for an extra $30.00 a year. I'm probably going to go with them, is there an easy way for me to get my shop up with the new host without having to re-do it, I've spent 6 months on it, I do have a backup of my entire store. Does anyone know if there's a site I should switch to besides Bluehost? Thanks :)

I just spoke with someone at Host Monster and they offer the same as Bluehost, I just have to decide which one to switch to, anyone using either of these hosts? :)
