Paypal not working!!! lost first sale :(

I just lost my first sale on my site because of an error with Paypal (I'm not saying that it's not pilot error). Here is the error:

10002 Security error - Security header is not valid

I went into the API information for our paypal account and verified that I have the right info in the name, password, and signature fields.

I know that this has probably been discussed over and over but because I need my site to be able to process orders I am putting in the question first then I will go searching

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Paypal not working!!! lost first sale :(

Looks like the error msg. is from the PayPal side. Have you contacted them?

Also, would it not make sense that after installing any new Module or Plug-in, verification is done to make sure all works as it should?

Hi... and yes "shame on me" for not trying a PayPal sale myself. I know that I should have done that. I will see if I can find a contact number for Paypal and try to ask them what is going on.

Thank you for your quick reply... I will post the answer here if I find out something.

Yes, that's the number I just called. The people who deal with my type of problem have gone for the day but a nice lady setup a trouble ticket and they will get back with me in the morning.

Your funny, Kim. :wink2:

You make reference to a thread that 'crabdance' already posted in about this problem.

crabdance, so what's the story? In the thread Kim referenced you gave the impression you had solved this problem. Or, was it that with no follow-thru on the Validation, you weren't aware the problem was not actually fixed?

Yea, I thought it was funny too ... In the other thread, I was trying to find out what my API username, password, and sig. was. I found that and was able to verify my credentials.

Now that someone tried to use the site for real, I found out that it doesn't work. Not sure what to do from here... should I try testing in the sandbox? I am POSITIVE that I have all the right information in the API settings. What else could be causing this? Should I try to reset my API information?

thanks

Testing is always good for all kinds of reasons; fixing problems, learning, etc.

Don't beat yourself up over it though as you do have a Ticket open with PayPal. If you pick their brains a bit when you talk them, you can find out a lot, real quick.

Re: Paypal not working!!! lost first sale :(

Hi Rob,

Yea, I bet myself up more than anyone else can  ... I will try and get them to help me in the morning. I will let everyone know what is going on. I think I'm going to try the sandbox tonight and see if I can get it to work. I have already signed up for an account and what the heck.... the live site isn't working now anyway lol

Don't worry Kim... I didn't think you were taking shots at me ...

Well here's the latest news. I setup the sandbox and tried that and everything worked perfectly! While that is wonderful, I can't help but wonder what the heck is going on with the live site.

just thinking out loud...

You have to get LIVE credentials - Uninstall and reinstall the module, reconfigure with the new credentials.

Re: Paypal not working!!! lost first sale :(

Will I have the option to re-install the mod if I un-install it? Just a little worried that I might get into something that I might not want to (smile).

Guess I will give it a try. I've un-installed and re-installed IH2 before so maybe this will be the same thing.

Thank you so much for your help Kim. I DO appreciate it!

Re: Paypal not working!!! lost first sale :(

Ok... I removed then reinstalled the Xpress Checkout mod. I left everything at the default with the exception of API username, password and sig.

Keep you fingers crossed people

Re: Paypal not working!!! lost first sale :(

As I said in the other thread you posted in, you must use "live" credentials if operating in "live" mode, and "sandbox" credentials if operating in "sandbox" mode. The two cannot be interchanged.

We should probably just remove sandbox capabilities altogether ...

Hi DrByte,

I understand that you have to use different credentials for "live" mode, and "sandbox". I don't have a problem with that at all. Like I said, "sandbox" allowed me to check my credentials and find out that things weren't too bad

IMHO, I don't agree about getting rid of sandbox support. It has really helped me out a lot and many others I'm sure.

Thanks for taking time to share your ideas
