Approach to Displaying Products to Certain Zones

The shop I am setting up will have groups of products - some of which can be shipped anywhere in the world, some of which will only be sold to those in the UK.
Could anyone advise me on the best way to approach this? Is it possible to only display the categories available to worldwide customers depending on the location of the user?

This would take quite a bit of customization ...

One method is to have Customers Login to buy in the Customer Details:

Customer Shop Status - View Shop and Prices
Customer must be approved to shop
0= Not required
1= Must login to browse
2= May browse but no prices unless logged in
3= Showroom Only

It is recommended that Option 2 be used for the purposes of Spiders if you wish customers to login to see prices.

Then, add an extra flag to your products that indicate the Zone that can buy the product and incorporate that in the key files for Product display ... which can be daunting ...

Or, just address the Add to Cart button function where it would validate the customer for the product and change from Add to Cart to Wrong Country ...

Granted now, I cannot buy Tiny Tim that new crutch because I am in the US and Tiny Tim is in the UK and the UK can have this but not the US ...

Or, make it where the validation is done on the checkout_shipping based on the address where the product is being shipped ... which could be a pain, but would allow more flexibility in the Sales of mixed products when sent to the right country ...
