I need help.... my images won't upload

Every time that i add a product and try to upload the image, nothing happens, i am able to list the product with no image.

I erase the complete installation, and reinstall zen cart, but i still have the same problem.
I have tried .jpg and gif images and still the same problem. Please any help will be appreciated. this is holding me up.

Thanks.

How are you uploading the image? Are you getting any error message?

Please don't post the same issue on multiple forums. It makes it very difficult for people to help you.

Re: I need help.... my images won't upload

Sounds like you might have permissions problems on your /images folder ... it needs to be "writable", which usually means "777" is the right permissions level to set on the folder.

Re: I need help.... my images won't upload

What version are you using?

You can always upload the file manually via FTP.

Re: I need help.... my images won't upload

Perhaps your server doesn't allow uploads via PHP.

Normally if an upload is attempted but fails, an alert message will appear across the top of the screen.
If that's not happening, then perhaps your server's configuration is completely ignoring the request to upload the file via the browser.

You may have to upload your images via FTP instead.

Re: I need help.... my images won't upload

Go to Tools --> Server/Version Info in your Zen Cart admin panel. Do a page search for File Uploads. If they are set to off then you are better off considering another host.

You would fill in the box in the Products Image section that says "Or, select an existing image file from server, filename: ___ "

Re: I need help.... my images won't upload

Well, I think the alternate method you described here is nice as a backup, (I just tried it and see it works well) but the upload function from the Admin sure is sweet, and I am having withdrawl because...

This morning I moved the shopping cart directories out of the ZenCart directory and up to the main level, so customers are in ZenCart upon arrival at the domain.

Up until this move, I have been able to upload images directly through the Admin, but after the "move-up-one-level" I have not been able to upload the images directly.

I have tried pretty much every solution I could find in the FAQ and Forums here (resetting permissions, etc.), but am still getting the following response at the top of the Admin page when I try to upload an image to a product page:

------- begin response --------

Warning: move_uploaded_file(D:\\\\\\\\inetpub\\\\\\\\blahblah/images/po/PO-IB-7.jpg) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in D:\Inetpub\blahblah\admin\includes\classes\upload.php on line 112

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\phpD1.tmp' to 'D:\\\\\\\\inetpub\\\\\\\\bhjdynamics/images/po/PO-IB-7.jpg' in D:\Inetpub\blahblah\admin\includes\classes\upload.php on line 112

------- end response --------

Have I just overlooked a permission setting?

I can change the text descriptions, it just seems to be the images?

Thanks for any input,
chrx

Typical causes of failure are:

  • insufficient disk space in destination drive/folder
  • disk quota limitations in destination drive/folder
  • destination folder isn't writable
  • filename unacceptable for given operating system
