Couple of Questions regarding Downloads in general

Okay, the site that I am working on building with Zen Cart is a new online store for the company I work for. We are a small roleplaying game company, and so a number of our products are available in both PDF and in print versions (often in multiple styles of print (soft cover vs hard cover, etc..).

I have 2 main questions regarding downloads......

1. Is it possible to bundle a physical product with a PDF product? If so, how would I work it?

2. Is it possible to put multiple downloadable items on a single "product entry" (i.e. 1 sale item that gives the buyer 2 PDFs)?

Yes - you can add multiple downloads to a product. Just add more attributes with files attached to them.

For physical products, you have a few options:

• make separate products for physical and download
  or
• add additional attributes to the products which indicate that the physical product is what was selected.

Either way, your order-processing staff will have to pay attention to what was selected so they know whether to ship a boxed product or not.

ok, so like i have 6500p which is mt PDF, and then I have 6500 which is my softcover, and 6500h for my hardcover - you are saying to basically make a new physical product 6500c (for combo) and then just add the download attribute to it like it were an electronci file -- correct?

the "6500c" approach is one way to do it, sure.

Or you could have just one product, with several attributes ... and the customer could select which versions they want by checking the appropriate boxes. If they check the printed book, you'll ship them the book. If they select the download, their download will be available at the end of checkout. If they check both, they'll get the download immediately and you can ship the printed book later.

You can choose which approach works best for you.

If a Product is both a Download and a Physical Product, meaning that to order it would get both the Download and the Physical Product ... there is a special shipping setting for the Combo product ...

This will charge normal shipping based on the Physical Product and allow for the Download to also be processed ...

NOTE: if tracking Stock a Combo Download with Physical Product will count in inventory ...

NOTE: a Product that can be purchased as either a Download Product **or **as a Physical Product is NOT a Combo product ... if the Product has weight then the Download Attribute should have the negative weight value ... if the Product has weight in the Attribute only then it is not necessary to have negative weight on the Download Attribute ...
