How do I restore my cart?

I had a problem with my admin. It would not allow login. I updated the SQL but it still would not work. Ultimately I re-installed the cart. I copied all of my local files, except the admin, back to the server. Now I can log in, however I do not see any categories or products in the admin. They are all listed in the front end but all of the photos are gone.

What can I do to salvage this mess?

There's no "quick" or "short" answer, because you've supplied very little information and it sounds like there's an extensive history behind how you got to where you're at today.

Start with pasting your configure.php files from admin and storefront here, without the password.
What template were you using on your site?
How many databases have you created?
What did you do with your database content when you reinstalled Zen Cart?
It sounds like you've got files and database content all out of sync for some reason.

With a grand total of 5 products in your store, I'd be inclined to say start fresh and re-enter everything in a clean database after you have both your admin and catalog working.

There are more than 5 products in the zen cart (more like 30 with several attributes). I'd rather not have to start from scratch if at all possible. Everything that was entered is still in the database which I backed up - and did not delete from the server - before re-installing. Like I said, everything is still there except for the pictures. There is one database. I used the default template.

I'm confused about what you're saying.

First, you said you had a problem with your admin not allowing you to login.
Then you said you "updated the SQL" somehow.
Then you said you re-installed Zen Cart. What exactly do you mean by that?
You said you "copied all local files except the admin back to the server". Um, why? and, why did you skip the admin files, esp if you had an admin problem?

When you "re-installed", did you run zc_install/index.php to do the "re-install", or when you say "re-install", do you mean only that you copied files to the server?

Did you delete any files from the server before uploading the files from your local PC?

Your product images are "gone" because they don't exist. ie: they're not on your server. If you look at the image placeholders shown on your website, they point to your /quote/images folder ... which is where one would expect them to point. Thus, it looks like you must have deleted the files from your /quote/images folder.

I'm not sure what happened to your template. I have no idea what your site looked like before you did all this. Maybe what's showing on the storefront is what you expected, and you haven't gotten around to customizing it yet other than turning off all the sideboxes.

You have a "DB_PREFIX" setting of "cart1_". Do all your tables start with "cart1_" ? Do you have a collection of tables starting with another prefix?

• I ran zc_install/index.php to do the "re-install".

• I did not copy the local admin folder back to the server because that didn't work when I tried to login to the admin prior to re-installing so I thought that something in the folder must be 'bad'.

• I did not delete any files from the server prior to re-installing.

• The image files are still on the server in the images folder - I just checked.

• I had not made any changes to the template yet. The cart had just been populated with products.

• All of the tables in the database begin with cart_1.

The admin table does not have the cart_1 prefix, does that need to be changed?

If your database tables are using the prefix then when you go to reset the admin table you need to reference it with that prefix or you will more or less be just adding a new table called admin vs a table called something_admin and the fix is then ignored ... :unsure:

You would need to add the prefix that you are using, which I believe is:
cart1_

So instead of the create of the admin and insert into the admin you need to create the cart1_admin and insert into the cart1_admin ...

So the same thing as before but customize it a bit:

You can delete that admin table you made ... you want to look if you have two tables such as:

If so, you can then remove that table for:

as that is not in use ...
