Changing and field names and making them "required"

Hi everyone, I'm new to Zen Cart and web page development in general so I need all the help I can get.

I just installed Zen Cart and the store's been running for 10 days, now I need to change some of the field names in the customer profile and make them required fields as well.

Where do I start ?
