Removing alt_nav links in DHTML menus

A quick question about how to remove the links to alt_nav.php in the DHTML menus in admin.

What I'm trying to achieve is to ensure that if someone clicks on the top level menus in zen cart the alt_nav.php script is not run (so the menus do not change location and the screen gets replaced with all menu options). This would means that to move from the home page, someone must actually select an option from the menu.

I've searched everywhere about how to do this, but just can't find what I need to edit to remove the link to alt_nav.php.

From past posts about this same thing on the forums, I've found that this functionality is not a zen cart bug but a conscious feature. It was intended for users who do not have Javascript. But I would still like to turn it off.

Can anyone please explain how to remove? Please?

Thanks for your help - really appreciate your prompt reply. I tried this but it is still not working on my system. Is there something else I need to do?

After making this change, each of the main menu headings in admin still links through to alt_nav.php.

You'll have to alter every reference in the admin for the links generated using FILENAME_ALT_NAV

Hi, I've got the same problem, please specify how to alter this code.... I should just // erase it? Or replace it with some other code? It seems like on a brand new installation such as I have here, it should not default to an alternative layout....

thanks, please specify what to replace the FILENAME_ALT_NAV (or surrounding code) with in my admin files.
