Remove "Documents" Cateogories from all products

I just figured out how to remove documents general products from the search. I would also like to remove them from showing when you click on All Products or New Products. I am thinking it may have something to do with editing
/includes/modules/pages/products_all/header_php.php but couldn't figure out what line to add to exclude a category.

While we are on this subject, I would also like to be able to remove those catgeories from the top header if I have my categories listed up there.

To remove various Product Types from select statements you can use the field products_type that is in the products table ...

This matches to the settings in the table: product_types

Im not quite sure what you mean here. Do you mean add that line to the file I mentioned? Or is it a different file?

I found one of your old posts and just figured out how to remove it from the all products and new products but adding the line

AND master_categories_id != 23

Does that work the same way to remove it from the categories list that would appear on the top header bar of I enable it? And if so, where is the file located?

Using something similar such as:

and products_type != 3

is more or less the same idea here ... :smile:

First you said you wanted to remove the Document Products from the Listings ... and now you are asking about category tabs ...

What are you really wanting to do?

You know how you can have the categories listed across the top in addition to having them in the sidebox? When they are in the sideboxes, the "Products" show up under Categories and the "Documents" show up in a separate Document sidebox. Those are fine because then I have them separate. However, if I select to have the categories show up on the top bar, it lists all categories AND documents. I would like to be able to just have the actual product categories listed up there and not show the document categories.

You would want to customize the module for the categories_tabs.php and include in the SELECT something like LEFT JOIN to the table product_types_to_category to know what categories_id to exclude as that is where it is stored ...

This could then filter out the categories you do not want to display ...

Ok that makes sense. I think I am finally getting to the point where it makes sense to me WHERE to change things but I am still learning how. Like I know I would have to change something in this file, but I am still not exactly sure what unless it is spelled out for me. I hate to keep asking to have things spelled out for me, so is there a good place to learn basic commands to add or remove things? But in the meantime, if you wouldn't mind telling me how to remove a category from this that woudl be gread! I am not sure what you mean by LEFT JOIN. Thank you again for all your help.
