GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

Yesterday I noticed some unwanted behavior in GreyBox. I found that when I went to the product page and used greybox to view an image, afterwards the "back" button on my browser did not work. The problem is only with Firefox. I tested it with IE and it works as it should.

I only noticed this after I upgraded to v1.3.8.. I don't know if it happened before that or not (sorry). I'm running the most current version of Firefox. If you need more information please let me know.

thanks...

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

Just for grins, I tried the sample from the other site mentioned in this thread that uses Greybox. It seems that it too has the same issue about the back button not working in Firefox after viewing an image.

Can someone look at the code and maybe tell what might be going on? I'm not good enough with php. Thanks in advance to anyone that might be able to help.

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

I found that there is a Google group for Greybox and I checked it out. As it turns out, this is a known bug in Greybox and has not been fixed. One of the posts I read was from January. I would be ever so greatful if someone could look into this. I'm not too good at php or js code or I would be there. I'm going to look anyway but I doubt that it will do much good.

This is a great mod and I know that many people will want to use it. Just need to get that Back button working in Firefox and it would be perfect.

Thanks everyone...

My site works now because I switched to zen LightBox. It does almost the same thing that greybox does without killing the back button. The back button not working is known bug in AJAX. I searched the net and found some fixes, but I'm not good enough to implement them in php or javascript.

So if you want the effect without killing the back button... check out the Lightbox mod in downloads. I installed if fine and it worked right out of the box for me.

I don't mean anything bad towards the guy who ported Greybox to Zen Cart but... You should try and see if you can get Zen Lightbox to work. I was trying to get Greybox to work and found out that it had some issues with it (I'm sure the author will fix them when he can).

So, get the Zen Lightbox and try that out. It worked out great for me.

bigjoed -

I absolutely love the looks of your site, especially everything in I guess what would be considered the header section, and even the right information box and the footer.

Are these mods, or some customizations of your own that you did? Are they expansions of your two grey boxes mods only used differently? The top menu with the push button look is nice, everything is neat, clean, and just looks so good.

Any secrets or advice for the rest of us who like that kind of look?

nice mods too btw!

thank you,
betty

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

That is a TM template. Looks great, may work fine for that store, as long as the owner does not want to modify template setup.

How did you know it was a TM template? Member of the psychic hotline are you? lol Do you know which template it is?

Why do you say as long as the owner doesn't want to modify the template setup?

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

First, the "Details" button and its layout is typical - TM forces that instead of allowing "more info" text or a "buy now" button on all their templates I recall seeing.
And looking at view source showed it to be /theme006/ which is a typical TM foldername, and the clumsy deep nested divs used like tables are a good clue.

TM often hard-codes functions that are supposed to be settable in admin, and their unique recoding of some pages means that normal fixes and mods will often not work.

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

I never thought to view the source...duh!

As far as the TM directory, that must be how the store templates directories are as the regular templates which are what I use to template stores normally just extract into with_flash, without_flash, and sources Within those I've never seen a numbered directory, however like I said, store templates may be different.

Anyway, thank you for the info and I still hope I can fin out whether TM or not to find out about the top of this site.

thank you,

betty

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

Sorry I didn't respond earlier bettysue,

I recently got back from deployment in Afghanistan so I haven't been paying much time in the forum. As far as a TM template goes, I have no idea what they are. I have looked at many websites out there, I see something I like, I try and modify it to serve the purpose of my site.

If you see anything you like, let me know and I'll help you apply it to your site.

If you do, try and do it soon, I'm getting ready to go into a 13 weeks exercise in which I won't even have a cellphone with me much less a computer.

Later...

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

My apologies, I didn't realize that TM meant TemplateMonster. My old site was build from an old TM template. Going thru their code helped me learn how to create a nice looking template.

This new site resembles my old site however I created this one from scratch using the new upgrade 1.3.8. TM templates are really complicated and their support is not that great.

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

I just tried to install the greybox mod in a version of v1.38a after I had installed the Image Handler mod. I am stuck on 1 file that they both modify. Normally I can combine the changes, but not this time.

It's on the includes/modules/custom/additional_images.php file

The version of image handler I'm using is the latest (that I know of) which is v2.0 for zencart v1.37.

any help greatly appreciated,

betty

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

I ran into the multi-image problem with 2 pictures.
I am testing my future site using 1.3.8 zencart.
On the product page are 2 images
item01_MED.jpg (medium size image) and item01_b.jpg (2nd image small).
When the item01_MED.jpg is selected, the greybox picture shows the small item01.jpg.
When the 2nd small image is selected, it works. It brings up the large 2nd image item01_b_LRG.jpg.

I don't know if the '_MED.jpg is causing the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Re: GreyBox 1: greybox for zencart

Can anyone supply the code to modify the "additional_images.php" to make any of the "larger Image" links on the product display pages to use the greybox syntax?

Thanks!

Looks great!
Is there a way to do a roll over and to add just text? :D
