USPS Patch didn't work for me

I removed the USPS module (thanks for not letting us know it would DELETE THE ACCOUNT NUMBER FROM EXISTENCE, luckily, I had it stored somewhere else...) I uploaded the new page, usps.php, then I re-installed and re-configured the USPS shipping module. It still defaults to Express Shipping regardless of what the buyer chooses for their shipping method. What do I do now? Users are screaming at me to get their carts fixed before Christmas.

OK, that was weird.... I went back in, removed and installed the module 3 more times. The last time, it worked.....

Re: USPS Patch didn't work for me

What version of Zen Cart are you using?

(BTW- It is always a good idea to have an alternate shipping method because live rate server are known to go down at inopportune moments)

Re: USPS Patch didn't work for me

Cart version is up to date. The cart owner will only ship USPS. He's stubborn....
The problem is solved, although I don't know why it took 4 times to make it work. It is late and I have had a long day, so it's entirely possible that, well you know the rest........

One thing that might be an idea for a future update... Try to keep the account ID in here even if you remove the module. Luckily, I had an entire backup of this cart on another site, so the account info was there as well. This is not my cart, and I run quite a few.... I know, I should have all of that stuff written down somewhere (and I probably do), but read the first paragraph above for why I may have not known where to find it...

Thanks for the reply.

Re: USPS Patch didn't work for me

And just where should we keep all of those codes for you that you may later change but we kept and then overwrote your new codes ... :eek:

Either way we lose ... :cry:

I thought in saying UNINSTALL, REINSTALL and RECONFIGURE on the post would indicate that you would need to reconfigure the cart ... as in, know all previous settings so that you could reinstall it again properly ...

Sorry you ran into issues with this ...

Re: USPS Patch didn't work for me

Just change the setting in the module from test to production.

Re: USPS Patch didn't work for me

Perplexed...

The customer gets this:
We are unable to find a USPS shipping quote suitable for your mailing address and the shipping methods we typically use.
If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact us for assistance.
(Please check that your Zip Code is entered correctly.)

And I get this:
<Error>
<Number>80040b1a</Number>
<Description>Authorization failure. You are not authorized to connect to this server.</Description>
<Source>UspsCom:: DoAuth</Source>
</Error>

So is the WebTools ID wrong? It's the one that USPS JUST sent the client.

Thanks,
Christy

Re: USPS Patch didn't work for me

Did the client then call or email USPS to enable that WebTools ID for the Production site? :unsure:

NOTE: I would not waste time with the Test site as it rarely works ...
