Pricing based on size and number of characters
Hi there,
I've been working with Zen for a couple of months now and we just launched our client's store. One of the issues that I'm running into is pricing by attribute. I've seen many posts that are similar but I couldn't find one that was exactly the same, so here goes...
My client customizes items with vinyl lettering. She wants the total price to reflect "size" times the number of characters.
I have setup a text attribute that calculates price per letter, but I can't figure out how to adjsut the price for the size as well.
For example: cost per character is $0.20 and 1" lettering would be 100%, 2" lettering would be 120%, 3" lettering would be 140%, etc. So if a custom wanted "cat" written on an item in 1" lettering it would be $0.60 (3x0.20x1.00), if they wanted it in 2" lettering it would be $0.72 (3x0.20x1.20).
I have seen posts trying to do this with a text input, but I'm ok to have "size" be a text field or a dropdown. I've also seen some posts that mention using subtotals. Is it possible to calculate the base per letter charge, and then multiple the size price by the subtotal?
I want to avoid having to list each size as a different product if at all possible. Please help. Thanks.
