my upgrade from 1.2.6 to 1.3.8 broken sql

I am using mysql 5
when I up grade the database is stops around version 1.3 with html output of:

in:
[select admin_id, admin_name, admin_pass from admin where admin_name = 'craig']

thats all....
I have updated the same db on the same server with the same content today from 1.2.6 to 1.3.7 with no problem, but then dropped the changes to go to the newest version. Ooops thought it would be just as easy. :(

If you do the upgrade in stages ... one version at a time, does it still croak with the same message on you?

if using the 1.3.7.1 version it does not choke at all.
using 1.3.8 it stops and if I go one update at a time it stops around 1.3

I just installed with 1.3.7.1 and then upgraded from there to 1.3.8

it was my walk around
