better together module question

I installed the better together module, and coded it as instructed for my two products I want to link. However, when I put either one of them in my shopping cart, the module does not display.

I thought it was not working at all, and decided to get back to fixing it later, when I got an order that had the correct better together discount applied when those items were purchased. I tried a test order again, and the module never displayed.

Please help. I would really like to make this work.
