Coupon STILL calculating sales tax

I have been trying to figure this out but it is driving me nuts.

To give you an idea of our problem,

The product is $10
The coupon is for $10

Discount Coupon settings:
Sort: 90
Include Shipping: false
Include tax: true
re-calculate tax: standard
tax class: taxable goods

Order Total Modules sort order:

Discount Coupon: 90
Subtotal: 100
Tax: 300
Shipping: 350
Gift Certificates: 840
Total: 999

On checkout it shows:

Sub-Total: $10.00
Discount Coupon: freejpegs : -$10.00
AZ TAX 8.05%: $0.81
Free Shipping: $0.00 (digital product)
Total: $0.81

I have tried adjusting all of the settings in the Order Total Module and I still cannot get it to apply the discount before it calculates the tax. It should not have any tax applied to it.

Any ideas? Anyone else frustrated by this?

Re: Coupon STILL calculating sales tax

This does not solve my issue with the problem above, but if i change the discount to 100% then it shows this in the checkout.

Sub-Total: $10.00
Discount Coupon: : -$10.81
AZ TAX 8.05%: $0.81
Free Shipping: $0.00
Total: $0.00

In this case, it includes the tax in the coupon amount, but I am looking for the coupon to apply the discount and then have the tax listed as $0.00 because it should not be taxed in AZ if there is a discount applied.
And we can't always have the discounts set at a percentage amount to get the proper total.

I also have a sales tax summary mod installed and if sale tax is calculated like it is above then it shows that we accepted sales tax and we would be reporting it improperly because we never took any money on this sale.

Re: Coupon STILL calculating sales tax

Hi,

I'm jumping in on this thread too as I'm having a similar situation. I'm trying to track down the issue as to why this is calculating this way. Order details:

Order subtotal: $423.30
shipping: 0.00 (set to free shipping over $70)
discount coupon: -$84.66 (20% off coupon)
sales tax (NJ): $11.85 (should be 7% of $423.30-$84.66 = $23.71)

total: $350.49 (should be $362.34)

Thanks

Did you confirm this from that thread I referenced?

In Admin >modules >order total >discount coupon >edit
I changed the:

Re-calculate Tax
Standard

toggle to:

Re-calculate Tax
Credit Note

Re: Coupon STILL calculating sales tax

I have the same unsolved issue with coupons! And the solution proposed above does not solve it.
I work in a European country.
The rule is to apply the rebate on the price tax included. And then to calculate the tax to pay.
For example :

Product price tax included : 100.00
Discount coupon : 10.00%
Rebate calculated tax included : -10.00

Final price tax included : 90.00
Tax to pay (tax rate 19,6%): 14.75

I assume that "credit note" works fine when the calculation is based on price tax excluded. But it does not work for me.

Any solution tested in an European context will be fully appreciated. Moreover, does V1.3.8 solve the problem?

Any solution?
