Upsell related items/suggested coordinates on product page

I am looking for a solution that is similar to the upsell and stock by attributes mods. I need to display fashion coordinates (related items) on each product page. In this way, the customer can see additional products that coordinate with and can be purchased with this product...without having to place the product in the shopping cart.

The example here is a clothing website client. If the product is a skirt with a blue and green pattern, the skirt's product page would display matching shirts, vests, and accessories in addition to the skirt (based on the Admin's recommendations).

From what I've seen, "cross sell," "upsell," "better together," and the "also recommended" features do not do this. The first three provide alternatives AFTER the product is placed in the cart. "Also recommended" is based on historical purchasing patterns.

I mentioned Kuroi's "stock by attributes" only because it provides alternatives on the product page (i.e. other color choices). Of course, this is not an upselling mod and you can't create a proper invoice using it.

Can anyone point me toward a solution?

Cross sell does exactly what you want.

Better Together also does this. This is the idea behind what I called "marketing text" on your product info page.

Better Together also has a "Promotional Page" where various offers are shown. This could be used as is or as a basis for customization.

You were both right. I misunderstood how the mods worked based on what I was reading. I read first, install later. Anything to avoid overwriting too many files.

Advanced cross sell installed easily with the exception of the SQL patch. Did it manually. Haven't installed better together, yet, but am hearing good things there, too.
