My Second ZenCart (Just the essentials Please)

Hello all, I am about to embark on my second Zen Cart Store Front. I have learned a lot from the last store and I am sure this second time around will be much easier. I am hoping that someone out there can help me answer my question which is as follows:

I had a really hard time incorporating my design to fit into my last storefront. For this store front, i am looking to just embed the basics into my exiting template. i.e products, buy now, purchase, shipping Done! Is there a way to turn virtually everything off except the basics and just plant it into my websites content area.

Hope someone can help me with this.

Try a new install, and simply copy your template folders into their respective folders. You did use the template override system didn't you?

Yes, I did use the template overrides but thisis a new site with a completly differnt design. i am looking for a way to simply plop what is needed onto the content area of my new design.

Zen Cart doesn't operate that way. You have to "plop" your design into Zen Cart.

Is the content the same as the first site?

No, Completely different. Different Site Design and Different products and this one only has 20 or 30 products unlike the last one I did which had 20,000. Also, when I use the word content area, I am referring to the realestate where I can just place essential ecommerce related parts. the way zencart is now, I am forced to rebuild the template as a CUSTOM. I really just want to be able to plop the products in the realestate available with my already built template.

But Zencart does not work that way, unfortunately. You will have to do it the other way around: put your template into zc.

ohhhhh, I get it.

What you want is to tell Zen Cart what type of cart you want. Say a book store.

Then have Zen Cart create a site with books, descriptions, product reviews, Opera's Suggested list, etc.

Now that would be cool.

Seriously though, that would be an amazing feature! But it will be a long time before that happens.

However I do remember a dropshipper out there somewhere that already has the products in the shop they sell ya.

Slabadoo, you could use easypopulate to put the products and some content in the site. It's still allot of work, but not as much as putting each item in there at a time.
