State information not accepted v1.3.5

I'm using version 1.3.5

It appears this is only a recent issue as we never ran into it before and this cart had been online for about 2 years now.

When someone adds a product to the cart and goes to checkout, the cart is NOT ACCEPTING their state choice from the drop down. On occaision, it accepts the state if it is completely spelled out but not always. So it just stops at that screen and keeps asking for a valid State (ie. NV or Nevada)

I've noticed this in the last 3 months or so intermittently and recently (last two months) it is becoming more prevalent and common place.

I've verified the problem because a customer tried and failed to setup a purchase so I tried in their behalf with the same result. Although I used the state drop down list the cart didn't acknowledge the choice as valid until I typed in the state name in full. Apparently in some cases that doesn't even do it because I just got a call from another potential customer who got stuck and tried it both ways but the cart wouldn't let them go any further.

Again, this has only come to my attention in the last couple months after using the cart for almost two years and making no changes that I know of that would affect this.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem? Help!

Thanks,
Mark Hamilton

Re: State information not accepted v1.3.5

Mark,

v1.3.6 fixed some issues with state-pulldown and matching etc.
Since then v1.3.7 and v1.3.8 have been released, with more tweaks and improvements.

I'd suggest doing a quick test in a fresh v1.3.8 install and see if you can replicate the problem there ... esp "on demand". If not, then you may want to consider upgrading as your solution.

Re: State information not accepted v1.3.5

I figured an update was coming and I won't lie to you I'm very nervous about this. This cart is on one of my customers sites and I installed it before I really understood about the custom profiles so I'm not sure what all the update would KNOCK OUT. Do you know of any Zen Masters who are particularly familiar with updating a Zen Cart who are for hire?

I'm a 15 year web developer veteran and I'm sure I could figure it out if I wanted to spend the time with it but frankly I look forward to updating Zen as much as having a dentist pull my teeth.

If there is a COMPETENT "Zen Master" who want's to make a few bucks, there is a possibility I can arrange this. If they do a good job I can probably provide update jobs again in the future.

I'm studying how to install and configure for update friendliness now but this particular cart I'm not sure... SEO urls are installed, custom templates, secure certificate with dedicated IP address etc.. Well the cart is here: http://www.rv-accessory-store.com

I suppose I can plow through this and learn to do it myself if I have too but part of me want's to farm it out to someone more comfortable in this Zen update environment.

Anyway I'm interested in your feedback.

Thank you for your prompt reply!
