Add a field to product

I would like to add a field so I can list an alternate part number, it would be great if you could control it like weight and inventory so a user could turn it on or off and even rename it. Any idea on how to do this or has it been done before?

It sounds like a readonly text-field attribute might meet your needs - have you looked into this as an option?

That is a good idea, as long as it would be searchable - almost every product I sell would have at least 1 cross reference part number or alt part number. I will have to try it and see if you can get it to return results in the search box - that is how we look up competitor’s products internally.

Merry Christmas to you too - let me know if it works for you. I know that it is possible to tweak the search code to add other fields, so if it doesn't work, it can probably be made to work.

Easiest solution: put it somewhere in your product description or name.

A complete solution will require making changes to ZC codes.
