free shipping set up

does anyone know how to set up free shipping combined with table rates based on order price?

my cart is not calculating the table rate correctly. for example, let's say the shipping table rate for a 50.00 order is 6.50 and the shipping table rate for 100.00 order is 9.50.

a customer adds a 50.00 item to the cart. it is a non free shipping item so the shipping charge is 6.50.

that same customer adds another item 50.00 item to the cart. however this item is a free shipping item. so the cart should still list shipping as 6.50 based on the non free shipping item.

BUT my cart changes shipping to 9.50 because the price of the order is now 100.00... when it should still be basing the shipping only on the non free item (which would be 6.50).

I have modules>shipping table rate enable based on $ order total (green dot).
I have modules>shipping>FREE SHIPPING! enabled (yellow dot).

any ideas on what might be wrong?

What version of Zen Cart are you running?

Clean install or an upgrade?

How exactly do you have your Table Rate table shipping module configured?

Has anyone else encountered this problem. Is this how zen cart handles free shipping with table rates or is this just a bug in my cart? :frusty:

As a new install, I would upgrade to Zen Cart v1.3.8a ...

There were changes made since v1.3.7 to many of the shipping modules, including the Table Rate and Zone Rate modules ...

So that is how zen cart 1.3.7 handles a free shipping item when combined with a normal table rate shipping item???

And to fix that, I need to upgrade to 1.3.8a?

Rats... I have a lot of contribs installed that I doubt have been updated to work with 1.3.8a.... :lamo:

There is a bug ... this was fixed ...

If you are a coder, you can experiment with your site and Removing the old module and installing the current one and install that and configure it to see if that fixes it ...

From what I can see, you should be able to remove the existing Table Rate and Zone Rate shipping modules and load the new one from v1.3.8a via FTP into:
/includes/modules/shipping/zones.php
/includes/modules/shipping/table.php

and install and configure them ...

NOTE: save your existing settings as they will be lost when you remove the modules ...

So can I just delete those two (1.3.7) files with my ftp program and then upload the same (1.3.8) files to the same place?

I would rename them zones.php_v137 and table.php_v137

at least until you know the new ones work, before deleting them ...

Granted the upgrade is still highly recommended to v1.3.8a ...
