How to rename my directories ?

I have this question, How can I rename my directories as I’m building an online meals service and the categories that exist within recent ZC do not match ! DVD, matrox, manufacture…. !!!!!

I'm sorry but are we talking about the same subject? I need to change directories first and then catigories, But in general, can I just rename the 5 default categories to mine? “ that’s for categories” .. and still waiting for answer on how to delete and rename the build-in directories !

I don't think we're using some words the same way.

Categories are the groups of products, which you create and edit in admin > Catalog > Categories/Products.

Directories are computer file groupings, which you create and edit with your server control panel.

You can rename the existing categories to your own names. There are many more than 5 of them in the demo installation, and none if you don't have the demo installation. So I don't know how you have 5 categories before you start working, unless someone else made them for you.

Well, as I said I just downloaded the latest version the 1.3.8a of ZC with those 5 directories, How they came in! who created them ? I don't know ! I need to change the directories because they don't match with what I sell " DVD, matrox, manufacture…. !!!!! " and what I sell in my store are Oriental meals - on-line service !! I hope it's clear now .

OK, they are directories you are talking about. You can ignore those. I wouldn't delete them until you are sure they will not be useful.

All of your products will be created in categories in admin. How many images do you expect to have ultimately? Hundreds? Thousands? You don't need to make separate directories for your product images unless you have many hundreds, or too many to keep track of in one group. They can all go in /images/.
