Help Upgrading 3rd attempt No update link in install file

Here is what I have done.

I have a clean install of the 1.3.8a program and attached the old database (one that needs update) to it via sql upload and changed the database name etc in configure.php files. That's ok but when I go to the zc_install file I can not find the upgrade at the bottom of the page. I have seen it so I know what I am looking for, but it is not there.

Please advise what to do next. I have failed to get anything close to a working copy yet.

Please help. This seemed the last chance.

The upgrade option only appears if the database referenced in the configure.php file needs upgrading.

Thus, if the option isn't showing, then the database details you've supplied are incorrect. You need the correct combination of database server, username, password, database name, and db_prefix in order for it to work.
