Problem with logging in when shopping cart is empty

:yuck:Hi,
Problem with logging in. After I made some minor modifications to the layout of the login page I got the following problem: if the shopping cart is empty and I click the Login link I get a blank page, (header and logo is there but even the side boxes are missing) and I get a ‘Error on page’ message in the lower left corner of the screen. However when there is an item in the shopping cart and I check out or click login then I get the login page with no errors.

Any ideas what is causing this problem? Anybody who knows which lines in tpl_login_default.php decides where to go when you click login when the shopping cart is empty?? or can this be corrected elsewhere? any help is much appreciated...thanks.

Unfortunately I dont have an URL right now since I'm working on it on a virtual machine, but I will try and get it online on a test server tomorrow, thanks...
