30 day listing then it expires

hi everyone

i was just wondering if there is a setting on zen cart where you can list a item which automaticly ends in say 30 days and expires

any ideas

There is no built-in setting as far as I know. You can set features and specials to expire. So if you wanted all 30-day items I guess you could set up your store so you remove all links to "all products" and just utilize featured, remove the category box, etc.

I don't know if any of the 3rd party auction tools will do what you want or not.

Just curious -- why?

i would like to start a zen cart siute advertising cars for sale, where people pay to advertise foe say 1 month, but i would like the listings to auto expire so we dont gat listings on there for months after the car has sold,

I know we can delete them ourselfs but if they auto expire its much much easier

any ideas

You can use a a cron job to do that. Pretty easy I dare say ^^.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crontab

Basically you need to write a very short file that will disable any products that have been available for more than 30 days, then you need cronjob to run it once per day.

YOu can use a site like ezCrontab.com to get the task to run if your web host doesn't allow you to have a crontab.
