Another Admin Login problem

As I said I did not modify the code, it was working and then just stopped.....

Like i say it use to work and then just stopped working,, as per many others on these forums....
Always something that changed - CODE is not alive and can change itself...

Might be a server change, a file change, a added mod, or many other things

BUT NOT that the code decided to change itself

Did you seek out the debug prog? Set it up and post back with the results

Re: Another Admin Login problem

You are correct the code did not change itself...

Neither did I change it... if you look around these forums this is a fairly common problem, but alot of people just seem to reinstall the whole lot... would be nice to know why this is happening...

Ill take a look for the debug programme and see what it comes up with.....

Thanks for your help

Re: Another Admin Login problem

Ok installed the debug programme in admin and the normal includes side and it generates no error logs when I try to login and repeat this problem....

As per the other threads is this something to do with the browser/cookies??

Thanks Phil

Re: Another Admin Login problem

Cut to the quick and reload/FTP the full admin folder

Or if you must determine what caused this - FTP the admin folder to your local and compare to one from a matching version distribution with winmerge or another diff tool

Re: Another Admin Login problem

What version of PHP is your server using now?
What version was it using before the problems started?
What are all your settings in Admin->Configuration->Sessions? And if they're not set to defaults, why?
What is your setting in your configure.php files for STORE_SESSIONS and SQL_CACHE_METHOD ? Is your DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE folder pointing to a valid location, and is that folder writable?

Re: Another Admin Login problem

Hi and thanks for all the response... you help is appreciated... and i am getting somwhere....

The php version is 4.4.6

Is been on this version the whole time, and i have a 1.3.7 zen running on the server too which works perfect..

Cant get into admin to see the settings but i hadnt touched them...

Store sessions is 'db'

sql_cache method 'none'

and yes the cache folder is valid and pointed to......

BUT i have made progress somewhat.... if i rename the htaccess file so it doesnt work I COULD LOG IN!!! but only for a bit after i named it back.... it worked for about an hour and then I cannot get in again!!!

Something to do with htaccess?? Or the way this works for a while before breaking again is it something to do with a cache??

Re: Another Admin Login problem

If it's an .htaccess problem, then your apache errorlogs may contain some related information.
Which specific .htaccess did you change?

Re: Another Admin Login problem

I am getting the same problem as of July 3 2008. I have tried all the previously suggested fixes to no avail.

In my error_log file, I have the following error whcih confirms that the problem has something to do with sessions:

PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function Execute() on a non-object in /home/hosting/public_html/ilife/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 61

Any ideas?

TIA,

Daniel

Re: Another Admin Login problem

FYI, here's a little quirky item that may provide some insight on the issue (I hope). Sometimes when I attempt to login to the admin control panel, it doesn't just refresh the page...I get some html code displayed on the screen. This happens on multiple computers, so it is not a browser problem.

Here's a shot of what I see:

Did you recently have the php version changed on the server that your domain is on?

What version Zen Cart are you running?

Clean install or an upgrade?

Re: Another Admin Login problem

You have an error in a link that is being generated in there ... compare the files of your /admin on the server to the /admin of a clean copy and you will see the error ...

NOTE: Beyond Compare from scootersoftware does have an FTP compare in the registered version ...

Re: Another Admin Login problem

I already did that before, but got some security error which appeared to the left of the Login button.

I'll do it one more time and upload the result.

Re: Another Admin Login problem

I had this same problem. All I had to do to fix it was change the STORE_SESSIONS variable to '' for file based storage in the admin/includes/configure.php file and now it works great :)

Re: Another Admin Login problem

I am having the same admin loop. When I enter the user name and password (both of which I know are correct) it just comes back to the login screen with the username and password fields blank. I have tried to enter wrong values to login and I get an error saying that the login is incorrect. I have read all the postings regarding this issue and have tried all of the suggested fixes, but I still have the same issue. This is a brand new install, i have never been able to login to the admin cp. I used the store and all seems right, it adds products to the cart, all sample items are displayed correctly, etc. PLEASE HELP! I have uploaded the debug program also, but no errors are generated and no error files show up.

Re: Another Admin Login problem

Are you able to login to your Catalog?

Or, is the problem limited to the Admin?

Re: Another Admin Login problem

I just created an account using the shopping cart and the default items and received the default welcome email after creating the account, but it doesn't look like I am logged in. It takes me to the homepage that says "Welcome Guest, Would you like to login"

Re: Another Admin Login problem

I have read through all of the posts you have made trying to help others to fix this issue, and I have tried those fixes that you listed. I still am unable to get this to work.

Re: Another Admin Login problem

Could you post, from the server, without your username and password, the files:
/includes/configure.php
/admin/includes/configure.php

NOTE: if you have already changed your directory /admin to another name, change the name in the code that you post for it to something like /myadmin rather than you "new" /admin directory name ...
