bug in Canada Post shipping module? - no tax added

I have been using ZenCart and CP shipping module for over 2 years without a hitch - but today noticed an order that never had tax added to it. Looked through forums and i dont see anything relating to this so figured i would post:

Below are examples of last 3 orders. The 2nd one has no tax added. The other 2 are a x-test that show same shipping method, same product, same province, etc.

hmmm.. i do see 1 difference now - i see faulty order has province entered as Ontario and the other 2 have it as ON - and i think i may have seen an issue posted for CA vs California casuing same problem... need to look into this - would have thought this was a select box so how could they get entered different.

If you go to Location/Taxes > Tax Rates:

Add a "new tax rate"

Tax Class Title: GST on shipping
Zone: Canada GST Zone
Tax rate: 5% (effective Jan 1, 2008)
Description: GST on shipping
Priority:1

This will give you something that will look like this

Sub-Total: $6.07
Canada Post (1 box(es) to be shipped) (Expedited, 2008-01-08):
GST 5% + PST 8%: $3.38
GST on shipping: $0.30

yes, i have this set up already and i do get the tax calculated..

BUT, the bug i am posting about occurs when you have a different shipping address than billing address - and i think specifically if the state/prov is spelled differently. In my case the use had ON for one and Ontario for the other. In this case they system doesn't calculate the tax.

I've noticed the same bug in mine. To fix this we need a drop down menu for the province for when people change the shipping address. This would guarantee a match and the tax would be calculated properly.

The "GST on shipping" tax works for all Canadian deliveries. The GST tax does not apply to shipments outside of Canada.
