Can users also sell on Zencart?

Hi,

I am willing to create an online portal, where people also can join and sell their content. Is that possible with Zen-Cart? Or would you recommend me such options?

It can be done, but will require significant quantities of advanced coding for a full-function system.

Hmm, I think that wouldn't be possible. Are there any projects allowing me to do that?

I haven't heard about any, but this forum is not where they would be discussed if they exist. The amount of coding required and the limited number of potential users likely means that any such will be commercial products costing a lot of money. But you never know... Search the web... Google!

There are other options, you may try something like PHPProBid, etc...
ZC was not designed for this purpose, and to write code for this require significant amount of time and effort.

Best to use a stand alone Auction or Ads script. They are designed to do what you mentioned.

We are in days that all web systems have to be in deep interaction with users (sharing, user generated content etc.). Current "one-hand-control" is unfortunately doesn't seem to be a futuristic situation. In an ideal system, users should be able to sell, manage, get information. I am sure in time, this need will arise more and there will be more opportunities to adapt to such situation. But for now, I understand that it's not possible with current system.

I understand what you mean.
However, there is NO ideal system. Each has their own purpose, and serves in different situations.
I don't think ZC has to go that way in the near future. There are already many cart systems that serve that purpose (letting users sell their own). So you are free to choose using those systems if they suit your need.

Yes it is possible, here are a couple of examples of zen cart sites that are doing this. The manufacturers are single users. You can buy from indivisual designers

This is exactly what I'm looking for. Does the current Zen Cart allow register users to post up items for sell without too much effort or a MOD already in place?
