No Admin or images after upgrade to 1.3.8

I'm upgrading from 1.3.6 to 1.3.8. Followed the instruction in the Docs and got as far as the Congratulations page which invited me go either go to the Admin, or go to my store.

The store loads and functions, but the images from my 1.3.6 version are not present. My 'old' store still works fine, but the 'new' one (in a different folder on the server) doesn't pick up the images.

Also, when I go to the Admin, the following error is displayed

Warning: require(includes/languages/english.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/styrax/public_html/tppnewversion/admin/includes/init_includes/init_languages.php on line 31

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/languages/english.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/styrax/public_html/tppnewversion/admin/includes/init_includes/init_languages.php on line 31

I've downloaded and replaced the init_languages file without getting rid of this error.

What am I doing wrong?

It's not the init_languages.php file that looking dodgy. It's the admin/includes/english.php file that init_languages is struggling with.

Did you copy your images folder over from your old site?

No, I didn't copy all the image files to my new site! I've moved a few sample ones just now and that solves the problem. Many thanks.

I'm still struggling with the Admin not loading though. I get the same warning message even though I've reinstalled a new version (from a fresh 1.3.8 download) of the english.php file.
