swap image module for attributes?

I want to install the swap image module so that when you roll over the color attribute images it will swap the base product image with the corresponding color product image. From what I understand, it is intended to swap 'additional images' not 'attribute images'. Is this correct and if not how do I go about changing it so that it would?
