A few touch-ups left on my shopping cart page

Dear fellow Zenners,

I am almost there, but have a few touch-ups left to do on my "shopping cart" page. Instead of spending hours trying to figure it out by myself (if ever possible), I would like to get some help from the pros.

This is the page called out when the customer clicks the "Add this to my cart" button on any product page. To view it, please go to the following page and Click "Add this to my cart" button:

http://haostaff.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2

  1. I am selling downloadable files only. So the Qty. field should be "1" and "1" only - not more and not less. That means the customers should be warned, or banned from adding the same product more than once to the cart. Can this be done? How?

  2. With that, I do not need the "quantity change/refresh" button at all - neither in the items, nor at the left bottom.

  3. With that, I no longer need the split of Unit and Total columns. I just need a Price column in Total column's place.

  4. I prefer not to have the "back to shopping" button at the left bottom. There are plenty of links to navigate out of the page.

  5. I do not know what the small checkbox (under delete button) does. In any case, how do I simply remove it?

Thanks and regards,
Jeff

Re: A few touch-ups left on my shopping cart page

The display declaration in your css should handle more than one of your requests...

Find .cartRemoveItemDisplay and change it to this:

.cartRemoveItemDisplay {
display: none; ‹‹‹‹ caution, this will hide it from ALL your products
width: 3.5em; ‹‹‹‹you can leave this as is or delete it
}

You should be able to find something in the Admin to drop the Units column, but I'm not sure about that.

To keep them from adding more than one, go into the product screen and turn off the quantity box.

I think madmumbler means Configuration>Product Listing>Display Product Quantity 0

There is also a Show Category Counts under Config>My Store, if that applies to one of your issues.

Re: A few touch-ups left on my shopping cart page

Thanks, guys.

But so far the tips offered solves no problem for me.

The stylesheet.ccs amendment removes the "Remove" button, but not the "Quantity Change" button.

Turning show quantity off in My Store removes the count of number of products in each category and their showing in the Categories sidebox.

"Admin, Configuration, Product Listing, Display Product Quantity 0" does nothing to the shopping cart page.

Any other ideas?

Jeff

Re: A few touch-ups left on my shopping cart page

If you do not want the Update button anywhere on the shopping_cart page, did you try turning it off in the template?

There is a setting for its position, but not for an absolute off in the Configuration ... Stock ...

Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location
Show on Shopping Cart Update Cart Button Location as:

1= Next to each Qty Box
2= Below all Products
3= Both Next to each Qty Box and Below all Products

To change in the template, set it to 2 and then edit the tpl_shopping_cart_default.php and comment out the one at the bottom:

<?php
// show update cart button
  if (SHOW_SHOPPING_CART_UPDATE == 2 or SHOW_SHOPPING_CART_UPDATE == 3) {
?>
<div class="buttonRow back"><?php echo zen_image_submit(ICON_IMAGE_UPDATE, ICON_UPDATE_ALT); ?></div>
<?php
  } else { // don't show update button below cart
?>
<?php
  } // show update button
?>

Re: A few touch-ups left on my shopping cart page

Actually I meant going into the product listing itself and turning off the quantity display box.

Catalog -->Categories/Products --> find your product and set the Products Quantity Box Shows to No.

That's what I do for my store. That only allows them to add to their cart, not add multiple products. (But it won't effect the shopping cart page, it will still show quantities unless you make the changes Linda suggested.)

Re: A few touch-ups left on my shopping cart page

Many thanks, Ajeh, MM and Jack.

With your help, I have solved ALL 5 problems I hoped to solve.

For feedback and reference, the following is how I did them:

  1. MM: it is settable from the Admin -> Catalogue -> product page edit. But not the setting you mentioned. It is a setting field called "Produce Qty Maximum" = "1". That will allow only one product to be added to the cart. I would have a small problem left => the customer can't add two Option Values of the same product (e.g. Grand Staff and Hao Staff) to the cart. But I can live with that problem, unless someone can offer the codes to fix it.

  2. through 4): all solved by editing \includes\templates\template_default\templates\tpl_shopping_cart_default.php

  3. Admin -> Configuration -> Stock -> Show Shopping Cart Delete Checkbox and Delete Button setting.

Thanks again.

Jeff

Better solutions than I had. Thanks for posting those for the rest of us.

In the future I might suggest that you try to word the Title of your post in a way that more specifically relates to the problem, if possible, so it can be more quickly found by searching.

I.e, How to yada yada or Can such and such ---- keyword focused.
