PayPal Express dont work in Dreamhost

Hi all!

I'm using Dreamhost and I installed the last version 1.3.8a, but when I try to checkout by Paypal without login it give a Time Out error! You can see for yourself:
http://www.ebookspot.info/index.php

Then I installed the cURL and IPN test script:
http://www.ebookspot.info/curltest.php
http://www.ebookspot.info/ipncheck.php

then I see that the IPN dont work because it use fsockopen() and Dreamhost dont allow fsockopen to work for security reasons...

I ask Dreamhost support and the reply was:
"By default, for security reasons we dont allow fsockopen to work.
Ironicly, we suggest using CURL to bypass this"

Ok, and now? I think the cURL is working but the IPN uses fsockopen() correct?

How can I fix or make work?

Thanks,

Re: PayPal Express dont work in Dreamhost

Express Checkout uses CURL.

Your site's connection to PayPal via CURL is NOT working:
http://www.ebookspot.info/curltest.php?paypal=1
It gets error 28: connect() timed out.
You'll have to get your hosting company to fix that.

And yes, the IPN processing only uses fsockopen() at the present time.

Re: PayPal Express dont work in Dreamhost

Thanks DrByte!

I will see with my host the cURL error, but, if I fix this cURL error the Paypal Express will work or it will not work because the IPN part?

My question is the Paypal Express uses the fsockopen() because the IPN? because if it uses fsockopen() I will not try to fix the cURL because will not work anyway...

sorry for my english, and THANKS,

Re: PayPal Express dont work in Dreamhost

If you use Express Checkout you need CURL to place orders.
If your server cannot use fsockopen then you will not get notifications of refunds/cancellations or other PayPal status updates.

If you use Website Payments Standard (IPN) you require fsockopen to place orders and to get notification of refunds/cancellations etc.

Re: PayPal Express dont work in Dreamhost

Thanks again DrByte,

I am trying to use IPN with your module Paypal Sessions Viewer,

It is ok but I get a error when I go to Customers/View Stuck Paypal Orders :

Catchable fatal error: Object of class shoppingCart could not be converted to string in /home/.metrik/criador/ebookspot.info/admin/view_stuck_paypal_orders.php on line 88

But if I click the button I can move the orders to Orders Database!

I think I will use this!
Thanks!
