Changing form mail to MNS Scripting per Webhost

I am finishing up my site and have found out that my webhost has stopped all form mail from going out from all the sites they host. Here is the message that they sent to all of their accounts:

Form Mail Removal
Due to abuse by spammers, we have had to stop the use of form mail on our servers. We are sorry for the inconvenience. For e-mail forms, we ecommend using the nms scripts at http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net/scripts.shtml
because they were written to be more secure, using strict settings. Do not name your script using the words mail, formmail, or contact. Our servers are constantly being scanned for these names and if a form is found with these names, it will be disabled.

I don't know where to begin here. I am using version 1.3.7. Can I use nms in place of the formmail in Zencart? If so, how do I make the switch? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Zen Cart doesn't use formmail for anything.

If you are using formmail someplace else on your site, you'll have to put your own plan in place to convert it.

Re: Changing form mail to MNS Scripting per Webhost

Dr. Byte,

Thank you for your quick reply. I am not using any other email functions except those built into Zencart. I find it coincidental that all of my Zencart email functionality has come to a halt since my webhost disabled form mail. I can send emails out from my site and Zencart gives me the acknowledgement that the emails have been sent, but they never arrive.

I was testing the lost password function and never received the emails that Zencart said they sent. I cannot use the contact us email function as they never arrive to the mailbox I designated them to arrive to. All of these functions were working fine before my webhost did this. How do I fix it?

If you would like to give it a try, my url is http://www.giftmansion.com/zencart.
Do you think that the webhost cut off more than form mail from their accounts?

Re: Changing form mail to MNS Scripting per Webhost

Dr. Byte,

I emailed my webhost and asked them to tell me specifically what it was that they did to my email so I could fix it or else turn it back on so I can use it since my site does not use formmail.

They responded with a weak reply telling me to download the nms script and hire a developer to help me figure it out.

I revisited my email configuration in Zencart and it looked fine, just like always. Low and behold, my email is working again. I guess they decided to turn it back on for me.

Thanks for your advice. I am back on track again.

The email function is vital to your site, if your host cant provide a reliable email service, you may consider choosing a new host. Or maybe your are on a shared host?
