How to remove text in shopping cart....

When I click on "add this to my cart" and I am directed to the next page, this is what is at the top of the page:

Your Shopping Cart Contents
You may want to add some instructions for using the shopping cart here. (defined in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php)

For the life of me, I cannot find where to change this, so when my customers want to add something to their cart, they are seeing "You may want to add some instructions for using the shopping cart here. (defined in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php)"

Does anyone know how to remove this text? TIA

Sincerely and very frustrated,
Paula:blink:

Re: How to remove text in shopping cart....

If you read the text that's there, you'd have the answer to your question.

Take a look at this thread.

To create a very basic custom template (you can build from there), you need:

  • includes/languages/YOUR_TEMPLATE/english.php
  • includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/index.php
  • includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/meta_tags.php
  • includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/header.php (to change the logo)
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_header.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/images/logo.gif
  • includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css

For your question, you can add includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/shopping_cart.php

Anywhere you see a /classic/ folder, you can create a folder for your custom template. You can copy the necessary files from either the /classic/ folder, the /template_default/ folder or the parent folder.

Edit includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php to give your template identifying information so you'll recognize it in the admin under tools->template selection.

Thank-you...I did read the text, but can't locate where to find it, even though it is stated in the text. I will keep looking. Thanks:smile:

Re: How to remove text in shopping cart....

Like for instance, when I look under Tools/Define Pages Editor, there is no where for this to be found, so where would I find it to edit? I am at a loss here.....

Re: How to remove text in shopping cart....

That's because you can't edit it from there. The file is located in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php.

The easiest way to do this is to unzip a copy of Zen Cart on your local drive (your computer), so you can see the folder and file structure.

Create your own template using the list I posted earlier.

Use a good text editor like Notepad++ or Crimson Editor to change the contents of the files in the custom template folder.

Use an FTP program like FileZilla or SmartFTP to upload your custom folders to the corresponding locations on your website.

All of the programs I've mentioned above are free downloads on the net.

You could also see if there's a template you like in the downloads section. You can see them in action at http://(sorry, site offline)/. That might give you a better idea of what's involved in creating a template. You can always do your own afterwards. You'll still need the FTP client to upload to your website.
