USPSCharging more on zencart

I have my shipping set up with usps parcel post and priority and it is charging way more that what it needs to be. To ship a 10 lb item through parcel post costs me around 5.93 yet in zencart it charges me $34.08 thats is way far off. I put the product wheighs 10 lbs. yet in the shipping calculator it says it weighs 2.75lbs. I don't get it!:dontgetit To see for yourself put the vers audio speakers in your shopping cart and check the shipping calculator.

Re: USPSCharging more on zencart

What are all your settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

What are all your settings on the USPS shipping module ...

What happens if you switch to Classic Template?

What version of Zen Cart are you running?

Clean install or an Upgrade?

Re: USPSCharging more on zencart

It is a clean install, im running ver. 1.3.7,
In the usps module i have my usps user id, using production server, handling fee 1.0, tax basis is shiping, no shipping zones, All packages are machinable set to false, usps options is set to display transit time. domestic shipping methods are set to priority, first classs, and parcel. Int'l shipping is express. I also have a flat rate shipping of 11.00 sice the usps is not working. I have not yet tried to switch to the classic template but will try. My shipping/Packaging settings are.... oh I just noticed what was wrong, I had the max shipping weight set to 3 lbs. the shipping is now to $10.00 but that is still more than it should b and the parcel post costa more than priority which it shouldn't.I don't know if it has to do with the setting for larger packages. It says added packaging percentage:weight is 10:0 which i don't qute get what that means.

Re: USPSCharging more on zencart

Not machinable means pay more money so check that setting with your Post Office ...

The current version of Zen Cart v1.3.8a contains the updated USPS shipping module:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81696

Be sure that you have installed the current version of USPS for November:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80695

That 3lb Tare weight does increase charges a lot in addition to your handling fee ...

Maximun Ship weight means take the total weight of the order and break into separate boxes up to that size ...

Usually this setting is 50 or 75 lbs depending on USPS or UPS shipping method ...

What is your Ship From and Ship To address and total order weight?
