Item Specific Free Shipping, but available for whole store?

I set all of my binoculars to have free shipping. I couldn't do this unless I installed the free shipping module.

However today a customer purchased a Welcome sign that weights 5 lbs and choose free shipping. @#$%!

So is it possible to not show the free shipping module in the shopping cart yet still offer free shipping for the binoculars?

I'm in the process of installing 1.3.8 on a new site, https://www.birdersbinoculars.com so I don't know if this problem is fixed or uh differant in 1.3.8.

How are the binoculars marked for Free Shipping?

Which Free Shipping module did you install?

I had both installed. The free shipping options, and the free shipping module.

I marked as free shipping in the product edit page.

If the Product is marked Always Free Shipping then you need the Free Shipping freeshipper module installed ...

This forces Free Shipping when the Cart is all Always Free Shipping or the Cart is 0 weight and you have setup 0 weight means Free Shipping in the Shipping/Packaging ...

Free Shipping Options freeoptions is designed to offer the alternative of Free Shipping based on Total or Item or Weight ...

NOTE: Free Shipping Options freeoptions can be configured to make the settings AND vs OR settings ...

What was the 5lb product that you said shipped out for Free?

Ok, I understand all that.

But my problem is that the customer was presented with a choice of ups or free shipping.

Now I didn't set the weight to 0 on the binoculars, that would have been a good thing to do. Duh. ha.

This is on https://www.birdoasis.com, but I turned both free shipping modules off. I'm going back to turn the free shipping module on, and I'll leave the free shipping options off.

The customer chose free shipping when she bought the sign. Which is ok, she's a return customer, but I don't want just anyone getting free shipping.

If you had Free Shipping Options freeoptions installed then they will see both ...

If you only have Free Shipping freeshipper installed then this will only show on carts that are either Always Free Shipping products or 0 weight products if you have it setup that way ...

Without seeing the site it is hard to see what might have cause things to work otherwise ...

Note: v1.3.7 is very buggy and you really do want to get to v1.3.8a before too long ...

I see what I did wrong. I had both modules installed. I now have the free shipping (freeshipper) module installed and it only shows up when I choose the binoculars.
