weird problem in footer

Now this is really weird, I've tried to change zencart in the footer and url to my business while not touching the powered by, when I make the changes I get a blank page, and when I change it back to the original I still get a blank page.
Only when I reupload the original english.php file my site comes back up. This has never happened before does anyone know why it's happening:unsure:

Re: weird problem in footer

Can you post the define('FOOTER_TEXT_BODY' section of includes/languages/YOUR_TEMPLATE/english.php?

This is what it looks like in includes/languages/english.php:

  define('FOOTER_TEXT_BODY', 'Copyright © ' . date('Y') . ' <a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT) . '" target="_blank">' . STORE_NAME . '</a>. Powered by <a href="http://www.zen-cart.com" target="_blank">Zen Cart</a>');

Re: weird problem in footer

As you can see this is the original if I make any changes to the url and site name or just the url I lose the site. How's this as well if I make changes to the meta tags I lose the site:cry:

Re: weird problem in footer

I know what the original says. I wanted to see what you had changed it to. Do you have a custom template set up? Please post that section from the file in your template. Same goes for your meta_tags.php file. If you don't post your changes, there's no way anyone can tell you what's wrong with them.

Re: weird problem in footer

:D Ok problem solved it seems that I was having an ftp issue, I couldn't connect via cuteftppro so I tried to make the changes through the admin control panel of my hosting provider. For some stupid reason it must of corrupted it when I made changes but now I was able to give it a go via my software and it worked automatically.

Could you please tell me where can I make the change so in the tab of ie or mozilla it say's the name of my store and not zen cart

Re: weird problem in footer

:yuck: I learned a long time ago never to edit php files with the editor available in the webmaster panel. I assume you're using CPanel (since that's pretty common). The editor does terrible things to php. I'm glad you got that sorted.

You change that information in meta_tags.php (see the lines I highlighted in red).

<?php

 * @version $Id: meta_tags.php 6668 2007-08-16 10:05:09Z drbyte $
 */

// page title
define('TITLE', 'Zen Cart!');
// Site Tagline
define('SITE_TAGLINE', 'The Art of E-commerce');
// Custom Keywords
define('CUSTOM_KEYWORDS', 'ecommerce, open source, shop, online shopping');

Re: weird problem in footer

Thanks mate I did it and I just learned never to edit anything in the cpanel again, I bought php designer a little while ago and later discovered that I could change everything I needed through my ftp program. Even though I always end up throwing money around on products I don't need I know one day when I actually learn php it will come in handy when I write new templates up.

Thanks for your support you were a big help, I hope one day I will be able to support others on this site as this forum truly does support their members.

Thanks again

Re: weird problem in footer

I find a good text editor is one of the best tools when working with php. I use the Notepad that came with Windows, but many prefer Notepad++ . I also use Crimson Editor. Both are free downloads from the net. php is very particular. It doesn't like extra spaces at the end of files which the CPanel editor always seems to add.

Glad I could help you sort that out. :clap:

Good Luck and Happy Zenning!
